Christian Lacroix – Sleeping Beauty

Text by Laura Nicol

While flicking through the latest copy of Vogue I came across this piece of Christian Lacroix’s couture inspired illustrations. The illustrations are for the well known fairy tail ‘Sleeping Beauty’. The drawings are to be published the first of a series of books written by Camilla Morton called ‘Christian Lacroix and the Tale of Sleeping Beauty’.

The books are a form of a designers biography but shown creatively through the fascinating drawings. Lacroix has worked on the project throughout the last year to transfer his biography into the illustrations.

Author Camilla Morton expresses that “Fashion is as much about make-believe as it is about creativity”.

Future books will represent other designers biographies including; Manolo Blahnik, John Galliano and Diane von Furstenberg.

Using an illustration story would be a new concept that we could bring into 3rd Floors editorial space, to offer an alternative to styled images.
